Folded Leaf moves to the Burren

I have recently set up a new bookbinding studio in the Burren, Co Clare. This area in Ireland is renowned for its remarkable variety of plants and animals. Three quarters of Ireland’s species of flowers are found in the Burren. The word “Burren” comes from an Irish word “Boíreann” meaning a rocky place: chunky limestone boulders and pavements cover the landscape.

My beautiful studio is located overlooking Lough Inchiquin, Corofin in the grounds of Clifden House, an old landlord’s house. The studio has a split-level mezzanine – with a rickety spiral staircase – meaning that I have two separate places to work in. I have decided to use the downstairs for binding and the upstairs for drawing, collage and paper-making. Now I have more working space than ever before to create one-of-a-kind books, paste and marbled paper!

I will still be facilitating bookbinding workshops all over Ireland and am looking forward to hosting more on the west coast.
