Letterpress and bookbinding

I recently co-faciliated a letterpress and bookbinding workshop with printmaker Mary Plunkett in the Creative Spark Art Centre in Dundalk.  Participants were asked to bring in a piece of text that they wanted to print. Mary helped them set their type and print their pages on an Adana press.

Once the pages were printed, we bound the books using a Flag binding. This binding is creates an interesting and innovative means of display text and imagery, where the page are split and flow in opposite directions.

Each participant also got to create their own coverpapers which really added individuality to each book.
